Notes &

Have I mentioned that I’ve been really stressed? I have been. For months I’ve been running around non stop, working crazy hours and saying yes to everything.
And then, on Friday, the whole machine came to a halt. I don’t return to the office for 10 days. I have a 3-day getaway to the Bahamas(!) this week. And since I was so focused on the Bahamas, I didn’t go to any effort to make weekend plans. That means I don’t have weekend plans, and that in itself is a refreshing thing (especially because I bought an air conditioner on Friday night and had it installed same day).
One thing that’s not been refreshed? My face. It’s been a mess. I’ve looked tired for months. It’s been crazy dry and spotty and awful. I’m always breaking out and it’s just too damn hot for me to wear any kind of make-up that would help straighted it up. So on Friday, the first day of the relaxing break, I stopped by Lush and bought myself some treats. Bath bombs for the Bahamas. And several face masks in an effort to cure what ails me. The first one I used was Cupcake. It smells like chocolate and mint. I kept it on for 10 minutes and BOOM, you get the face you see above. Clear and calm and soft and even. I followed it up with some Burt’s Bees moisturizer, and the results are just dramatic. Cupcake is one of the fresh masks that you need to keep in the fridge, so as an added bonus it feels cool when you put it on your face. I will keep a pot of that handy at all times. The sales girl at Lush said that there’s no reason not to do a mask everyday. And yeah, she said that so I would whip through my masks faster and buy more. But there’s some truth to it. Everything at Lush is natural and fresh and healthy, and there’s nothing in there products that would make me worry about overusing them. So I’m going to do a mask every night when I get home from work. It’s relaxing, and if it can keep my face in tip top shape, all the better.
Lush!
